Report: Valve working on Counter-Strike 2
pcgamesinsider.bizPC games giant Valve is reportedly developing a new version of its hit shooter, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
That's according to journalist Richard Lewis, who reports that several sources have confirmed that this new title – tentatively called Counter-Strike 2 – has been the company's focus for some time.The game is being built on the Source 2 engine, which could mean better graphics and other optimisation but could also cut out players using lower-end machines. We imagine Valve would do something to ensure this audience is still addressed.
Counter-Strike 2's development is also apparently why Global Offensive has been slightly neglected in recent years. The plan is seemingly to release this new version of the game quickly and then get to fixing bugs after launch.
Counter-Strike 2 is apparently "about ready to go", with a beta expected this month or April at the very latest.
All of this comes in the wake of Twitter account @gabefollower noticing support for "csgo2.exe" and "cs2.exe" in an Nvidia driver.
