Rainbow Six Siege will soon receive a brand-new operator. Azami is a Defender themed around Japanese private bodyguards, and many are happy that a new character will soon be joining the roster. However, while it is exciting to have a new operator, fans apparently could have had an operator named «Flubber» instead.
A new Operation in Rainbow Six Siege usually comes with a new operator. In this case, Operation Demon Veil is set to start very soon. It will add a new map to the game and a brand new TDM mode, along with Azami. According to Rainbow Six Siege's new Creative Director Alexander Karpazis, however, things could have been a bit different.
Rainbow Six Siege Bans Thousands of Players Every Month
Recently, Alexander Karpazis talked with PCGamesN about Operation Demon Veil and Azami for Rainbow Six Siege. The character took a long time to develop due to the complexity of her kit. Azami can patch holes with her gadget, including holes that players may have busted open. Azami and her patch-filling gadget could be game changing, and Ubisoft needed to alter the game's sound engine to accommodate for it. Accoriding to Karpazis, Azami's abilities came from two canceled operators, and their names were Patcher and Flubber.
The name Patcher seems self-explanatory, as the operator could repair breaches. Originally conceived five years ago, Patcher was too close to the operator Castle, who is already in Rainbow Six Siege. Flubber, however, was more unique. Flubber had a gadget that would shoot out green ooze that could create a pile of goo. The goo could then be stacked to block off entrances, for example. This sounds very similar to Azami's Kiba Barrier, which are kunai knives that create a hardened gas that have the ability to patch
