Legendary filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is releasing a new book later this year. A household name for 30 years and a well known avid cinephile, Tarantino has marked a place for himself as one of Hollywood’s best auteur directors, using consistent stylistic choices to deliver unique and often subtly connected films. Beginning his career back in 1992 with Reservoir Dogs, Tarantino has crossed genres countless times, making acclaimed westerns like Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight, revisionist historical pieces such as Inglorious Basterds and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and classic crime capers, such as Pulp Fiction.
FollowingOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood's release in 2019, Tarantino wrote his debut novel, an adaptation of the film’s storyline with a somewhat different ending. The book was widely well-received and remains in print. However, Tarantino's time making projects for the big screen could well be coming to an end, as the director has been very vocal over the years about retiring after making 10 films. As Once Upon a Time in Hollywood marked Tarantino's ninth feature,he has only one picture left to complete the planned set.

However, it seems that the literary world might be Tarantino's destination after retiring from behind the camera. As reported by Indiewire, as part of the same two-book deal he signed with HarperCollins for his previous novel, Tarantino will be releasing his first non-fiction book later this year. Combining film criticism, theory and the director's own personal anecdotes, the book, titledCinema Speculation,will focus around key 1970’s films that Tarantino saw as a young movie-goer.
