Qualcomm CEO Promises That Next Year, Customers Will Be Able To Purchase Snapdragon X Plus And Snapdragon X Elite Machines For As Low As $700
The Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus have made quite the statement ever since Qualcomm officially announced both chipsets in April this year. After all, the company finally has worthy competitors in the ARM notebook space that can take on Apple’s M-series, but there is still one obstacle that the San Diego firm has yet to scale that could become the ‘make or break’ factor for the company to cement its position in this market and that is pricing. During Qualcomm’s Q3 earnings call, CEO Christiano Amon announced that in 2025, customers can purchase Snapdragon X Plus and Snapdragon X Elite products for $700.

Qualcomm did not reveal any financial statistics surrounding the Snapdragon X Elite or the Snapdragon X Plus sales, likely because it was too early to provide any meaningful numbers as the complete family of machines is yet to reach retail shelves in various markets. Regardless, during the chipset maker’s Q3 2024 earnings call, the Chief Executive promised that such products will be more accessible to customers regarding pricing, as they would be expected to pay as low as $700 without compromising NPU performance.

While Christiano Amon did not specifically mention which chipset will be available at that specific price point, our gut tells us that it will be the Snapdragon X Plus, as devices like the Microsoft Surface Laptop sporting the same SoC currently retail for $999.99, with Snapdragon X Elite-powered machines fetching a higher price. The Chief Executive also stated that more announcements are coming during the IFA Berlin trade show, which kicks off during the first weekend of September, with Amon firmly believing that Qualcomm will be one of the top silicon suppliers for AI PCs going forward.
