PlayStation rolled out a lot of new hardware during the last two months of 2023. A slimmer model of its PS5, the PlayStation Portal which allows you to play PS5 games remotely, and its first set of earbuds. The Portal and the Pulse Explore Earbuds have been notoriously hard to find since their respective release dates, but there's good news on that front when it comes to the latter.
Two bits of good news when it comes to the earbuds. Not only are they back in stock through the links below, but the earbuds you buy now will technically be better than the ones people have been using for the last two months. That's because PlayStation rolled out a system software update this week, and a significant chunk of the changes made are tweaks to the way the Pulse Earbuds work and what you can do with them.
The most handy update to the earbuds is the addition of a notification that will appear when they're nearby. The notification will not only allow you to connect to them more easily, but you can also switch what they're connected to between your PS5 and your PC by clicking it. This week's update has also added the ability to use the sound equalizer feature, and also the sidetone feature which will make it easier to hear your own voice while using voice chat.
PlayStation's first set of earbuds are the Pulse Explore Wireless earbuds. Coming with a carry case and equipped with AI-enhanced noise rejection technology, the earbuds are also equipped with mics so you can communicate with other people while playing online.
After a couple of months of the earbuds being out of stock, possibly down to them being bought as holiday gifts, the Pulse Explore Earbuds now seem to be readily available. Not only through PlayStation Direct but also Amazon and Best Buy. The PlayStation hardware train won't be slowing down anytime soon either. Next month, the Pulse Elite Headset ships, pre-orders for which are still available.
PlayStation also appears to have plans for a significant DualSense
