Just under two weeks after its initial release, Tekken 8 is set to receive its first balance update. Patch 1.01.04 will drop on the 7th February, after server maintenance is carried out at 10:30 JST / 01:30 GMT / 02:30 CET / 17:30 PST until 16:00 JST / 07:00 GMT / 08:00 CET / 23:00 PST. Obviously, you won't be able to play online during this time — so make sure to get your Tekken fix in beforehand!
We don't have any patch notes to peruse just yet — all we know is that the update includes «balance adjustments and bug fixes». The latter means that this patch should address a number of weird in-battle bugs that players have been documenting since launch; stuff like specific attacks doing far too much damage under certain conditions.
As for character balance, it's still a bit too early to be demanding all-out nerfs, but a number of pro players have been highlighting potential problems. Characters like Jun, Azucena, and Dragunov have been in the firing line over the last few days — the argument being that they're borderline perfect fighters — so it'll be interesting to see what this update actually alters.

Robert's been a dedicated PlayStation fan since the days of Tekken 2, and he still loves a good dust up. When he's not practising combos, he's usually getting lost in the latest 100-hour RPG, or, y'know, replaying The Witcher 3.
This is good to see that the balances are getting implemented soon. I use Jack 8 online and I don’t think he needs anything done massively to his setup! However, the characters mentioned so far will be very welcoming to see them rebalanced as sometimes it feels impossibly to fight against them, but then again it might also have something to do with the fact that I am really only playing a Tekken game as much as I am right now since 3 released on the original PlayStation!
