In May 2022, Amazon’s Prime Video will add a true crime documentary, a sci-fi drama, and the long-awaited return of a classic comedy sketch show. Over the last two years, there have been a lot of changes to how media is released and consumed, with large theatrical releases repeatedly abandoned in favor of dropping new movies directly to streaming. Even when movies have received larger releases, they have started moving to streaming faster than before. For Amazon’s Prime Video, that means even more content added to their regular Amazon Original movies and TV series along with a huge range of older content that bolsters the services offerings.
In April, Amazon Prime Video welcomed a host of award-winning content to the streaming platform. Hacks season 1 was added in its entirety ahead of the season 2 release later in 2022. The movie based on a true story of a man working through how his son was bullied for being gay, Joe Bell, joined as an emotional drama. And, among other new releases, Prime Video began releasing two episodes a week of the sci-fi mystery drama Outer Range starring Josh Brolin.

Amazon’s Prime Video operates on a monthly release model. While some platforms drop releases on a specific day of the week, Prime Video will often have new releases spread throughout the month and weeks as it sees fit.
