Last month, Crunchyroll added all of Funimation's content under its umbrella to subscribers. That's a tough act to follow, but May coming up on the service is no slouch--there's lots of great new dubs, seasons, and films hitting the streaming service.
Seasons 1 and 2 of Space Dandy hit Crunchyroll on May 10. For fair-weather fans who may have checked out the series not long ago on Hulu, they are in for a treat, because Crunchyroll is getting Season 2--Hulu only had the first one. Directed by Shingo Natsume (One-Punch Man, Night Is Short, Walk On Girl), the show is a bit hard to describe because the end of Season 1 reframes every episode that came before it. That isn't a spoiler to reveal, but something to keep in mind that while watching what seems like a proudly juvenile, frivolous show about an alien hunter in outer space turns out to be something surprisingly poignant.
Then, on May 17, the classic anime Trigun hits Crunchyroll. A synopsis of the Western-themed series reads in part: «Vash the Stampede is a wanted gunslinger with a habit of turning entire towns into rubble. His path of destruction reaches across the wastelands of a desert planet. Oddly enough, for such an infamous outlaw, there's no proof he’s ever taken a life. In fact, he's a pacifist who's more doofus than desperado. There’s definitely a whole lot more to Vash than his reputation lets on.»
