Early access farming simulator No Place Like Home is getting its full release in just a few short weeks. This unique twist on the farming sim genre is part of a broader trend in games shaking up the more traditional Harvest Moon or Stardew Valleyformula. Examples of these more inventive titles include Slime Rancher and My Time at Portia.

Awaken Realms shared a short trailer on YouTube showcasing the game's unique aesthetic, gameplay mechanics, and features. In No Place Like Home, it looks like players will be placed into some sort of post-apocalyptic wasteland covered with trash and debris. Luckily, they will be armed with a high-powered vacuum that allows them to suck up all the detritus and turn it into something practical or beautiful. Footage from the trailer shows some of the game's crafting menus, which look to include items like chairs, sofas, and even pieces of wall art. As is typically the case with farming simulator games, there also appears to be an assortment of animals for the player to befriend and side quests for them to complete.
Anyone interested in farming simulators or indie games in general might want to check out No Place Like Home when it releases in March. The game's unique setting and selection of fantastical biomes ostensibly set it apart from other games of this kind, as does the high-tech recycling gun. Only time will tell how the game handles its other core mechanics, but it certainly seems like an interesting title to watch at this point.
