A fan-favorite Pokémon is joining as part of the game's Halloween festivities. While not as high-profile as or the upcoming , has a loyal user base and a steady stream of new content. With a new area for players to explore during sleep time and several new species of Pokémon, is keeping the new content rolling by adding another new Pokémon as part of its upcoming Halloween festivities.
Mimikyu is coming to starting on October 28th. The Ghost/Fairy-type Pokémon will appear on both the Greengrass Isle and the Old Gold Power Plant and is a Dozing-type Pokémon. Mimikyu comes with a brand-new ability — Disguise. This ability causes Mimikyu to collect a set number of Berries plus some Berries that other Pokémon on its team collect. Mimikyu will occasionally get a Great Success with its Disguise ability, which causes it to collect even more berries. A Great Success can only be triggered once after each sleep research.
Mimikyu is joining as part of a wider Halloween event that also kicks off on October 28th. During the event, Ghost-type Pokémon are more likely to appear during sleep research, and Gengar, Drifblim, and Skeledirge will all appear at Greengrass Isle during the event. Players can also encounter Pikachu wearing a witch hat. Players will also get more candies during the event, including twice as many candies during sleep research. Some limited-time missions will also award players with Handy Candy S.
This marks the first major event since the 1st-anniversary event earlier this year, which added Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly and their respective evolutions to the game. has also made several small surprise updates, one of which recently added Drifloon and Drifblim and another of which added smartwatch integration. This event also brings back the popular Halloween-hat-wearing Pikachu, which made its first appearance during last year's Halloween event. This year's Halloween event will run from October 28th through November 4th.
