The new Mega Update for Pokémon GO will ease the difficulty of Mega Raids in light of player feedback. Currently, fans must complete a Pokémon GO Mega Raid in order to obtain Mega Evolution Pokémon, but these raids have become notorious for their excessive level of difficulty and requirements.
There have been a number of Mega Pokémon added to Pokémon GO since 2020, with each one only being accessible through a Mega Raid. Even high-level players have often remarked that these challenges are almost insurmountable, demanding multiple people with near-flawless coordination and extremely powerful Pokémon in order to take the high-powered beasts down. Mega Evolution is also often derided as being far too expensive, especially when the Mega Energy used to activate it is mainly acquired through the Mega Raids themselves.

It seems Niantic has addressed some of the grievances with Mega Raids as part of the newly-released Mega Update. Now that the update has been rolled out globally, the developer states that most Mega Raids are easier and will require fewer people to win. Additionally, Mega Evolution will now have a one-time expenditure of Mega Energy for the first use on a Pokémon, and won't cost any more after that. However, a Pokémon will be fatigued after Mega Evolving and need a rest period before it can Mega Evolve again; this period can be reduced by the expenditure of further Mega Energy.
