The new Mega Evolution update for Pokémon GO has potentially confirmed the next Mega for the game after showing the silhouette of Mega-capable Kangaskhan in a trailer. Mega Evolution is a popular mechanic in the Pokémon game series, giving favorite Pokémon companions a temporary boost of power through an additional evolutionary form. New Mega Pokémon in Pokémon GO have been added gradually over the past two years, and each announcement offers players a new asset in battle.
Unfortunately, Pokémon GO's Mega Evolution mechanics have been frustrating to use, with many unable to regularly utilize the option. While it is fairly easy to get a Pokémon that is capable of Mega Evolution, the first time it evolves costs players 200 Mega Energy, with further evolutions costing 40 Mega Candy. Because Mega Candy is primarily obtained through limited Mega Raid battles, most Pokémon GO players can't amass enough resources to truly enjoy the mechanic.

However, in a Dev Diaries update shared on Pokémon GO Live, a large-scale Pokémon GO Mega Evolution update has been announced for the near future. The update, which is already live in Australia and New Zealand, will overhaul the Mega Evolution mechanics with better evolution methods, Mega Levels, and a more accessible Mega Raid difficulty. Additionally, the update comes with a Mega Evolution trailer that shows Mega Evolved Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise preparing to battle the silhouette of a Kangaskhan with a Mega icon above its head. Currently, Kangaskhan is not a Mega Evolution option in Pokémon GO, indicating it will be the new Mega Raid teased in the Pokémon GO April update that was shared earlier this month.
