Niantic's wildly popular mobile game Pokémon GO has upset fans with the removal of Blastoise's sunglasses. While this may seem like a small inconvenience for some, this Blastoise can only wear sunglasses if it's a special event Pokémon. As Blastoise will wear the sunglasses all the time, the temporary removal of them through Mega Evolution, which just received major changes, has left fans with a bitter taste in their mouths. Though Niantic has yet to say why this was decided, fans have been giving their own ideas on how to fix this problem as well as different improvements to the Pokémon's design choices.
After its release years ago, Pokémon GO has seen numerous changes to its mechanics. One of the more prominent mechanics introduced was seasonal events, which affect spawn rates for certain Pokémon and gives select creatures special accessories as well. While some Pokémon can't evolve due to these special outfits, others can, and will even keep the accessories from when they were first caught. Some of these event Pokémon include a flying Pikachu, Piplup with a pumpkin hat, and Squirtle with sunglasses. However, it seems that one of the games more recent and redesigned battle mechanics has made it so these accessories will not appear on certain Pokémon.
