July is already halfway over and Pokémon GO is bringing back Mega Gengar Raid battles to close out the month. July has been packed for Pokémon GO so far, with multiple events occurring in just the first two weeks. From the usual assortment of new raids and spotlights to the Pokémon GO 6th anniversary limited-time event, there have been many ways for fans of the game to participate.
It has been six years since Pokémon GO was released on mobile devices, and for its 6th-anniversary developer Niantic has given players an increased chance to catch certain Pokémon from across the franchise's different generations, as well as the ability to obtain some event-exclusive Pokémon, including Party Hat Charizard, Party Hat Charmeleon, and Party Hat Charmander. The anniversary event also coincided with Pokémon GO’s Battle Weekend, offering players rewards like the chance to encounter a legendary Pokémon. Players that missed both the anniversary event and Battle Weekend can still participate in the new Pokémon GO Special Research to rescue Shadow Latios.

Currently, players can encounter and battle Mega Pigeot Until Friday, July 22, and then Mega Gengar will finally return from Friday, July 22, 2022, to Sunday, July 31, 2022. The two raids break a month-long streak of Mega Charizard X and Y raids that began in the middle of June.
