A make-up event for Shiny Exeggcute has been announced for Pokémon GO following reports that Shinies weren't spawning during the indicated event timeframe. Pokémon GO's gameplay is reliant on short-term events to keep content interesting. Options like Community Days and Pokémon GO Fest help bring trainers together, while Limited Research tasks encourage players to log on each day and complete objectives before they expire. However, glitches and bugs can make these events less fun, or impossible, to engage in.
During the month of April, Pokémon GO has offered a variety of short-term events to participate in, like the «Spring into Spring» event that featured Togetic and Lopunny in flower crowns and the debut of Tapu Bulu in Raid Battles. Additionally, a Timed Research Day for Exeggcute, «An Egg-citing Spring Surprise», was held for three hours on April 16, offering players a heightened chance of finding a Shiny, and the ability to evolve Exeggcute into the Alolan form of Exeggcutor. While the event was a great way to welcome spring in Pokémon GO, many players in earlier time zones found they couldn't encounter the Shiny version of Exeggcute when participating.

In an effort to address the glitch and apologize to Pokémon GO players, Niantic's Twitter has announced a make-up event window for the nine earlier timezones (GMT +14 — GMT +5) that were impacted. Players can participate in the make-up Limited Research Day event on April 30 from 11 AM to 2 PM local time.
