A recent leak suggests that developer Niantic might be adding Mega Legendary Raids to Pokémon GO soon. The popular mobile-based Pokémon game is still going strong nearly six years after its release, with Pokémon GO adding new collectible creatures and hosting special events regularly. Some of the most recent examples of these have been Pokémon GO’s special Spring event that featured cute flower crowns for certain Pokémon and this month’s Community Day that marked the debut of the Alolan Pokémon Stufful.
Some of these new Pokémon GO additions have centered around Mega Evolutions, which were first introduced in Pokémon X and Y as a powerful yet temporary new stage for certain Pokémon almost a decade ago. Pokémon GO only introduced Mega Evolutions in 2020, and only 17 different species are available at this time. The method for performing Mega Evolutions in Pokémon GO is different than in other games, as players need to consume a set amount of Mega Energy for their partner Pokémon to reach their Mega stage instead of using a Mega Stone. Recent data leaks have suggested that Niantic could be revamping the leveling system for Mega Evolutions in Pokémon GO, but that might not be the only big change on the way.
