The Pokemon Company took the world by storm on July 21, 2021, when it released Pokemon Unite on the Nintendo Switch. In September of the same year, a mobile port hit Android and iOS devices, making Pokemon Uniteone of the biggest games available.
The joint efforts of The Pokemon Company and TiMi Studio Group were an immediate success as the game reached nine million downloads on the Switch by September 2021 and hit over 30 million one month after it became available on mobile devices. To this date, Pokemon Unite has reached 70 million downloads on Switch and mobile.
Pokemon Unite is Adding Azumarill
While the game released to mostly-positive feedback, it has received its fair share of criticisms. Popular Twitch streamer and YouTube content creator Moistcr1tikal pointed out how intense Pokemon Unite's pay-to-win can be, spending upwards of $100 to improve items held by his Pokemon. While future updates created a less-strenuous experience on players' wallets, Nintendo and TiMi Studio plan to move ahead with a paid monthly membership for its users. The game will remain free to download and play on the Switch and mobile devices, but players will have the opportunity to spend a little extra to gain perks and items.
While global prices have not been released, the total amount in Japanese Yen is 1,150, equivalent to $8.99 in United States Dollar or $11.49 in Canadian Dollar. Players can expect to receive a special Holowear each month, two free Unite License Trials, two weekly Holowear License trials, new Chat Balloons to use during games, and a 10% discount for Trainer Fashion in the game's store, plus 40 Gems every day.
