A variety of Pokémon Trading Card Game simulators now exist and have been helping TCG fans build up their collections. Despite having originally been released in the late '90s, the Pokémon TCG has skyrocketed in popularity in 2022. With thousands of new cards releasing each year and the boom of scalpers flooding the market leaving Pokémon TCG products scarce, many collectors may understandably be feeling overwhelmed trying to jump into the Nintendo hobby. In 2021 alone, there were five mainline Pokémon card sets to hit stores, and that isn't even including special expansions such as Shining Fates and Celebrations. One of the first-ever TCG sims to exist was the Pokémon Trading Card Game video game released on Nintendo's Game Boy Color in 2000. The handheld title gave players their first simulated look at how to open Pokémon card packs, build decks, and battle against other players. Over a decade later, Pokémon TCG simulators have made major advances, with several sims now even existing as online websites that are completely free. Instead of running straight to the store, many TCG fans are taking advantage of these sites to get a better idea of what their experience will actually be like as they simulate opening individual booster packs from new expansions.
