Nintendo Switch Online is secretly one of the best deals in the industry right now and it's about to gain a new title that should make fans very happy. The value subscribers get from even the standard NSO tier is fairly impressive given the sheer volume of retro titles available on the service that's constantly growing. The inclusion of the Game Boy, especially the Game Boy Advance, provided even more incentive to go in on a subscription, especially when so many Pokémon spinoffs are now readily available through it.
Per an official announcement on X (formerly Twitter),is coming to Nintendo Switch Online on August 9.
Since the title was exclusive to the Game Boy Advance, users will need to have the Expansion tier which grants them access to the catalog of available GBA games. While many are undoubtedly pleased to see returning to a modern platform, others have questioned why Nintendo won't add the mainstream Pokémon games to NSO given that the only titles in the franchise available on the service are spinoffs.
Nintendo Switch Online offers subscribers a wide library of retro titles to play, and a few of these games stand out as the very best of the bunch.
Those fans who missed out on the games are in for a treat but it's worth noting that the spinoff is very different to a normal RPG series. Taking on the format of a roguelike, players must advance through a constantly changing dungeon to rescue various imperiled Pokémon who've become lost in its depths. In doing so, teams of pocket monsters are built and improved, gaining new abilities and skills the more experience they gain from spelunking in the strange cave.
Some familiar aspects of the games are present such as the turn-based combat and the various moves that can be used to bring down opponents.
