It's believed Pokemon fusions have been created by fans since the very beginning with the original Pokemon games, but there's no clear origin. Some websites have been established in this age of the internet that allow fans to fuse two Pokemon of their choosing just to see what they could look like. Fanart of Pokemon fusions has also been made to imagine these designs with more flair and style.

Reddit user Quotedotlass posted a short slideshow of pictures showing off their takes on Pokemon fusions such as Gardevoir and Ninjask, Greninja and Porygon Z, Hakamo-o, and Salazzle, among some others. The images depict different poses and scenes for each fusion. For example, one image shows a combination of Salazzle and Hakamo-o that's seen acting like royalty with unevolved versions rushing around like servants.
Some fusion designs even change the overall theme of the original Pokemon, and such is the case with Quotedotlass' fusion of Torterra and Hippowdon. Torterra went from being almost a walking piece of greenery to a walking zen garden due to Hippowdon's ground-type. The artist was very creative in the fusions of these Pokemon to the point that it would be fun to have them exist in the game so players could catch them.
