The week was full of buzz that we’d be getting more Pokemon Violet & Scarlet news today, but it just never materialized. We’ll go over why that is in our round-up today, but fortunately, it doesn’t mean that there wasn’t any news to speak of.
We have good news for fans of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, with The Pokemon Company making a huge investment in its future. We also have an amazing creation from a fan, who has found a way to trade between Gen 2 and Gen 3 games. All of that and more in our Pokemon news round-up this week.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is launching way sooner than any of us expected: late 2022. Even though that is inching closer by the day, we still don’t know a whole lot about the game. Sure, the reveal trailer gave us a more in-depth look than usual, but it still isn’t a whole lot to go on for a game releasing in a few months. Therefore, it makes sense that rumours spread of a new trailer being shown off today, via a Japanese Pokemon show. The description said it would feature “the latest information on Pokemon games”, but it meant this quite literally - it just repeated the initial trailer. Well, fingers crossed for Summer then?
In a big trading card investment, The Pokemon Company purchased the North American manufacturer of its Pokemon cards. This was an unexpected move from the company, which largely just contracts others to do this work for them, rather than do it in-house. Millennium Print Group will still retain its autonomy, and will still be able to work on non-Pokemon projects. However, it’s a good omen for fans of the Pokemon TCG, with bosses obviously feeling good about its future.
