Pokemon Fan Art Imagines What Poison Type Vulpix and Ninetales Would Look Like

Ever since the Pokemon franchise debuted, fans have been creating art based on their favorite creatures. Sometimes this fan art imagines Pokemon taking on new roles, with many artists changing Pokemon's types.

Pokemon fan nina1wolf1 recently took to Reddit to show off their latest piece of Pokemon fan art, which imagines Vulpix and Ninetales as Poison types. Traditionally, Vulpix and Ninetales are Fire-type Pokemon, so the switch to Poison requires quite the change in appearance. Both Vulpix and Ninetales are given a purple and green color scheme, with sludge and toxic gas replacing their tails and fur. The designs were likely inspired by other Poison Pokemon that have been featured throughout the series. If there ever were Poison type versions of Vulpix and Ninetales, it wouldn't be surprising to see them look very similar to these designs.

Reddit user PokemonCMG added to nina1wolf1's post by creating custom Pokedex entries for the Poison type Vulpix and Ninetales. The Pokedex entries give Vulpix the attacks Acid Spray and Sludigfy, while noting that it was «found in a long-abandoned factory.» Ninetales, meanwhile, has Dire Claw, Scary Face, and Sludge Bomb, and it's noted that its body emits «a deadly mist that is utterly toxic to inhale.»

While Vulpix and Ninetales are traditionally Fire-type Pokemon, The Pokemon Company has experimented with turning them into different types in the past. The Generation 7 Pokemon games featured regional variants, where pre-existing Pokemon could look different and have different types depending on the region that they are from. This included Vulpix and Ninetales, who were both given Alolan variants.
