For a long time, Pokemon was what could be described as a «cookie cutter» franchise; that is to say, the shows and games followed their established formula to an almost perfect «T» due to their constant success. Comparable to modern Call of Duty titles, Pokemon did not change very much over the years.
However, that has changed in recent years with the latest releases of the games. Specifically, Pokemon Sun and Moon and especially Pokemon Legends: Arceus took major steps to change the formulaic nature of the franchise. Pokemon Legends: Arceus has been so influential that it has already been revealed that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be open-world games.

One item that has become synonymous with the franchise is the pokeball. Being the item used for catching Pokemon, it only makes sense the red and white circular capsule would become one of the most iconic symbols of the games. In contrast to the games' formula, the pokeball has actually changed a fair bit over the generations, with new iterations spawning such as Pokemon Legends: Arceus' Hisuian pokeballs. However, a fan decided these new pokeballs were not enough, and came up with a great idea for future pokeball designs.
Reddit user sdrey decided that it would be awesome if Pokemon types affected the pokeballs that housed them; to that end, they designed pokeballs that reflected Pokemon types, including designs for dual-type Pokemon such as Pokemon Sword and Shield's Toxtricity. They also noted that the pokeball type should also change should the Pokemon housed inside evolve into a dual-type or differently-typed Pokemon. The pokeballs are designed so that the top and bottom each change colors based on the typing;
