While there are some Pokemon fans no doubt excited to play a more traditional Pokemon game when Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launch later this year, Pokemon Legends: Arceus has proven popular enough that many are hoping to see Game Freak explore the concept further in a sequel. Pokemon fans have suggested all kinds of ways that Game Freak could make a worthwhile Pokemon Legends: Arceus sequel, though one recently proposed idea is especially intriguing.
Reddit user Minor_Devil has suggested that a potential Pokemon Legends: Arceus sequel should take place in the Johto region. A Pokemon Legends: Arceus sequel set in the Johto region is not a new idea, but Minor_Devil expands on it by adding that it should include the Pokemon that were cut during Pokemon Gold and Silver's development. Presumably, a Pokemon Legends game set in the Johto region would take place in the far past, and so there could be lore reasons for why these Pokemon don't exist in the Johto region's future.
Weird Pokemon Legends: Arceus Clip Shows Spheal Acting Strangely
This is the approach that Pokemon Legends: Arceus takes with the new Pokemon that it introduces to the franchise. Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in an ancient version of the Sinnoh region, and so it features Pokemon and Pokemon variants that no longer exist come the events of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.
There were many cut Pokemon from Gold and Silver that would not only work great as brand-new Pokemon, but could also serve as variants for existing Pokemon. For example, there was a different version of the Pokemon that would become Tangrowth, not to mention a variety of baby Pokemon that evolved into Pokemon originally seen in Pokemon Red and Blue.
