Sony's PlayStation Plus lineup of free games for September has been officially confirmed, and as leaked earlier this week, Saints Row headlines the new batch of games that'll be available starting September 5 through October 3. September's collection also includes Black Desert: Traveler Edition and Generation Zero. All PS Plus members across Essential, Extra, and Premium can claim them.
The price of every PlayStation Plus tier is also increasing starting September 6, with the six and 12-month subscriptions becoming noticeably more expensive.
Saints Row was originally released in 2022 and is a reboot of the franchise that is themed around the idea of self-made success, only with gratuitous violence and devastation instead of more legal methods of entrepreneurship.
Like the original games, it's set in an open-world environment in which you can unleash some explosive chaos, insurance fraud, and help solidify the Saints as the top gang in town. The game received lukewarm reviews when it first launched due to a variety of technical bugs and janky gameplay, but developer Volition has updated Saints Row with several substantial patches and content drops since then.
«Combat is decent, and the story missions are enjoyable when at their most over-the-top, but there's too much bland filler in between,» Richard Wakeling wrote in GameSpot's Saints Row review. «Rebooting the series made sense, yet in many ways, Saints Row is still stuck in the past and struggling to live up to its legacy.»
