Sega has revealed in its latest fiscal report that it's considering releasing Persona 5: The Phantom X in regions outside of China, Taiwan, and Korea.
Even though the original release of Persona 5 was eight years ago, there's barely been a moment where we haven't had something new from The Phantom Thieves. We've seen dancing spin-offs, a criminally underrated Warriors title, an upgraded version of the original game, and even tactical RPGs like Persona 5 Tactica released since 2016, with no signs of slowing down any time soon.
There may not be a shortage of titles based on Persona 5, but one of the most recent and sought-after is a mobile game called Persona 5: The Phantom X. This free-to-play gacha spin-off was announced some time ago and has finally launched in an open beta state last month, but sadly only in China, Taiwan, and Korea so far.
Although it seemed inevitable that Persona 5: The Phantom X would eventually leave China, Korea, and Taiwan and make its way to the rest of the world, Sega has strangely been rather quiet about that prospect so far, despite the game already being a massive hit overseas. That silence has mostly remained, but it does seem like it's at least considering the possibility for the future.
Earlier today, Sega published its quarterly earnings presentation, which included a section that talked about how Persona 5: The Phantom X has been doing since it launched in an open beta state last month. The presentation confirms that the game's release has gone "as expected" so far, which suggests Sega was expecting it to be a big hit.
"Starting off as expected. Future expansion in Japan and global is under consideration."
As pointed out by Twitter user ScrambledFaz, the earnings presentation also suggests that Sega is considering launching The Phantom X outside of Asia at some point in the future. The presentation says that future expansion into Japan and globally is being considered, which seems to mean that it's not currently set
