A mod for the remaster of Persona 3 Portable fixes one of the game's biggest issues, which fans were disappointed to see carried over from the original release: the Persona Fusion system's shill inheritance. The remasters were first announced in 2022, where it would bring the modern trilogy to several platforms after several requests, including the Nintendo Switch. Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden got their ports near the end of this January, with both games getting a mostly positive reception when it launched. Some fans however took issue with some aspects of these remastered ports.
Some of the issues fans mainly revolved around the minimal changes made for the remaster. Alongside the visual upgrades being simple upscales using AI enhancements and heavily compressed audio in Persona 3 Portable, one of the biggest complaints is in one aspect of its gameplay. More specifically, the Persona Fusion system and its implementation of skill inheritance. It retained the system where players would inherit random skills passed down from their previous Personas, which required several tries to get the optimal skillset for just one Persona. A mod for the PC version looks to remedy this part of the gameplay.
Golden Girls Fan Game Takes Inspiration from Persona
This mod was created by AnimatedSwine37, who released this Manual Skill Inheritance mod on GameBanana. What this mod does is make the skill inheritance part of the game's Persona fusion system closer to what was seen in Persona 4 Golden. Instead of random skills being chosen for the new Personas, players will be able to chose which skills they will learn. The modder notes this isn't a cheat, as the manual inheritance mod is intended to be a quality-of-life function
