Heads up, Peloton Tread users: A new entertainment option is headed to the platform for when you don't feel like taking a class.
Peloton today started rolling out its Lanebreak fitness game to all Tread members globally. The launch comes after Peloton first debuted the game on its exercise bikes last year.
As I noted in my hands on with the Bike version, Lanebreak is sort of like Mario Kart's Rainbow Road track. Your goal is to earn as many points as possible by controlling a wheel racing down a six-lane track via your Tread's speed and incline.
Adjusting the incline lets you move into or stay in a lane. While in the appropriate lane, you'll follow the animated cues, called Moments, and adjust your speed accordingly to score points.
Lanebreak Tread offers an immersive auto-incline feature for hills, in which the treadmill will "adjust its incline automatically to follow the curve shown to the user in the 3D world," Peloton tells PCMag. Peloton last year first rolled out an auto-incline option(Opens in a new window) for on-demand Tread classes (to enable it, tap the lock button beside the incline target range). Competing treadmills that work with the interactive fitness service iFit, including NordicTrack and ProForm models, also allow for hands-free automatic adjustments, for both incline and speed.
As with Peloton classes, music is a big part of Lanebreak Tread. You can select from a number of levels, ranging from five to 30 minutes in length, across different workout types, all set to a "beat pumping soundtrack" themed around a featured artist or music genre (including Pop, Electronic, R&B, Hip Hop, Rock, Metal, Country, and Latin).
Lanebreak Tread is part of Peloton's $44 All-Access membership, which also offers
