Regular TikTok users may have come across a bizarre trend where people are seen peeling raw eggs. In fact, it was reportedly the most downloaded app worldwide in 2021, ahead of Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat in that order.

The latest viral trend on TikTok involves people peeling raw eggs without breaking the thin membrane inside, as highlighted by CNET. The practice involves removing every last fragment of the shell from the egg without puncturing the sac. People are evidently allowed to use any number of tools, including tweezers, blemish extractors, cuticle pushers, and even toothpicks, with the only rule being that the eggs have to be completely raw and uncooked. While some are skillful enough to peel the eggs perfectly without breaking them, most end up with broken whites and yolks that are perfect for an omelet or scrambled eggs.
One of the successful egg-peelers is TikTok user @btypep who uses rounded blackhead extraction tools and surgical tweezers to get the job done.
