The city takes a lot of inspiration from the real world city Los Angeles, CA, and has a lot of similarities to it. There are many different sections to the map and each one is very lively. The city is full of NPCs and random events that occur depending on where the players end up. The southern half of the city, known as Vespucci Beach, has a beach and a boardwalk amusement park that feels strikingly similar to walking through Venice Beach. Even though there are some shortcomings, Grand Theft Auto's Los Santos is an impressive place to explore overall.

Reddit user Ok-Quantity-553 shared their rendition of the overhead map of Los Santos they made using Lego Bricks. The map is a bird's eye view of the city that is similar to when players pull up the in-game map to look at their next mission. The map doesn't have much definition, as it is all made with grey Lego, but the original poster did mention that they are planning on going back and building a much bigger and more detailed version at a later date.
