Learning how to beat Specters in Horizon Forbidden West will make it much easier to get through one of the story's main missions. As Aloy is exploring the Forbidden West, she'll encounter even more dangerous monsters than those from Horizon Zero Dawn. Each machine has its own strengths, weaknesses, and strategies needed to defeat them. In the case of the Specters, they can be encountered during the Cradle of Echoes quest. They are incredibly mobile and can morph into an even more dangerous machine.
During the Cradles of Echoes mission of Horizon Forbidden West, Aloy is tasked with investigating a distress signal sent by Eleuthia. After entering the tunnel into the Old World Facility, a cutscene will play and Aloy will meet her first Specter. Certain enemies have elemental weaknesses and Specters are all the same.
