James Gunn has shared a new behind-the-scenes photo from Peacemaker, showing John Cena’s costumed vigilante with the class full of child actors from one of the first season’s most memorable scenes. Sharp-witted and unapologetically funny, Peacemaker’s hilarious first season served as the first-ever television series directly connected to the events of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Picking up after the events of Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, the series follows Cena’s Christopher Smith (AKA Peacemaker) as he is enlisted to work for a mysterious Black Ops team dubbed “Project Butterfly.”

Most recently, Peacemaker’s first season was released in Japan, and Gunn celebrated by sharing a new behind-the-scenes image on his Instagram account. Taken from the show’s sixth episode “Murn After Reading,”, Cena’s character is invited to a local school’s Show and Tell by Rizwan Maji’s Jamil, a janitor who befriended him while he was recovering in a hospital after being shot by Idris Elba’s Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad. Proving himself not the most appropriate of childhood role models, Peacemaker recalls a story where he spent a party with Wonder Woman “eye f-ing me from across the room.” Check out Gunn’s post below:

That particular scene is just one of many side-splitting moments from a season packed to bursting with Gunn’s trademark, offbeat sense of humor. Cena also did an outstanding job bringing the character previously described as “the world’s biggest douchebag” to life, often relying on his impressive improvisational skills in the process.
