Shown on Disney Gallery, The Book of Boba Fett behind the scenes images reveal Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker without CGI, alongside Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Grogu. Having first returned in The Mandalorian season 2 finale, Luke Skywalker came back once again in The Book of Boba Fett episode 6, which picked up after his previous episode with him training Grogu in the ways of the Force. Just as surprising was the presence of Ahsoka alongside them, uniting Anakin Skywalker's son with his former Padawan.
As with The Mandalorian season 2, this younger version of Luke was brought to the screen by mixing Hamill's own performance alongside that of a body double (in this case Graham Hamilton), and then using CGI on top of all that to blend the performances together. The result on screen means getting to see young Luke, but it inevitably loses the Hamill's real performance somewhat, given he's not truly shown in the episodes.
That changes with Disney Gallery: The Book of Boba Fett, as behind the scenes images and footage show Hamill as Luke without CGI. It goes through the process of filming his scenes, including him standing talking with Ahsoka, and acting in front of the puppet used for Grogu in various sequences, such as his training and the scene where Grogu must choose between Jedi and Mandalorian. Further behind the scenes images reveal other aspects without CGI, such as the practical effects used to help bring the rancor to life on screen as well.
