Social sandbox massively multiplayer online game Pax Dei will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam and the Pax Dei Launcher on June 18, publisher New Tales and developer Mainframe Industries, and publisher New Tales announced.
“Pax Dei is a game about people interacting with each other—the war and peace they will make, the social structures that will emerge,” said Mainframe Industries director and co-founder Reynir Hardarson in a press release. “The game can’t be built without players. We want to gather a community of people willing to work very closely with the development team. Early Access means that you are on the floor with us.”
Mainframe Industries CEO and co-founder Thor Gunnarsson added, “We’ve been humbled and are deeply thankful for the interest and passion our project has received already. Today, we’re inviting players to embark with us on the next step of the journey.”
The Early Access version of Pax Dei is still in alpha and “heavily in development,” and the gameplay foundations are already in place. This includes the peaceful gameplay loop (resource gathering, crafting, and building) and the adventure gameplay loop, with large areas to explore in player-versus-environment or compete over in player-versus-player.
Pax Dei is expected to remain in Early Access for at least one year, during which the game will expand in “all directions” based on player feedback. Major changes will occasionally require wiping the game and starting over. The first such update will add the third core pillar of the game—the social gameplay loop—by introducing features such as markets and gold economy.
