Warning! Major spoilers ahead for Outlander season 6 and beyond!
Perhaps one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of the Outlanderseason 6 finale was the disappearance of Claire and Jamie’s housekeeper, Mrs. Bug. Outlander season 6 brings to screen author Diana Gabaldon’s A Breath of Snow and Ashes and with Mrs. Bug not returning after Claire told her to go get support in the Frasers' stand-off with the safety committee, viewers who have not read the books are likely puzzled. It turns out that Outlander season 6's Mrs. Bug story could be the source of a big story in Outlander season 7.
The Outlander season 6 finale begins with Richard Brown and the safety committee having just arrived at Fraser’s Ridge ready to arrest Claire for the murder of Malva Christie. Understandably resistant to capture by another Brown brother, Claire and Jamie enter into a firefight and stand-off with Richard Brown and his men with Claire telling Mrs. Bug to go for help. Mrs. Bug seems to agree, disappears, and the episode goes on to see Claire and Jamie confronted by most of the settlers at Fraser’s Ridge accusing Claire of murder and witchcraft. Yet, while Lizzie returns with a small band ready to fight for the Frasers, Mrs. Bug is never seen again in the episode.

In Outlander season 6, Mrs. Bug's disappearance is not an oversight by the show nor a case of failure by the character.
