Our Flag Means Death BTS Images Show Taika Waititi Directing Episode 1
Fans of Our Flag Means Death are given even more behind-the-scenes images of the cast, this time around its of Taika Waititi directing the pilot. Viewers will recognize Waititi as Blackbeard, but he undertook several roles for Our Flag Means Death including executive producer and director. While Waititi focused on acting alongside Rhys Darby (Stede Bonnet), various directors took a stab at directing throughout the series including Bert and Bertie, best known for their work on the Disney+ series Hawkeye.

Some pictures of Waititi directing the very first episode of Our Flag Means Death were shared on Twitter. The images show his hands-on approach to the episode as he adjusts props and interacts with actors for the best possible outcome, flipping between serious and goofy expressions much like his character. While Waititi isn’t playing Blackbeard here, he might have been trying to become accustomed to the costume as one image captures Waititi directing with a dagger attached to his hip.
