The trailer for Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin suggests it will repeat Pretty Little Liars' best family trick. The spin-off to the Pretty Little Liars series was announced 12 years after the original show debuted on ABC Family and has triggered much intrigue about what Original Sin could bring to HBO. There certainly looks to be many of the same themes imbued in its predecessor, but with a stronger plotline that could connect the past and present in more concrete ways than Pretty Little Liars achieved.
Original Sin is based 20 years after a series of tragic events tore apart the town of Millwood, and will follow a similar style to its incredibly popular predecessor. The spin-off will also be a teen drama following the titular «pretty little liars» and a stalker called «A.» Whether Original Sin will have as many'A' renditions as Pretty Little Liars is yet to be confirmed. Original Sin looks to be darker than Pretty Little Liars, however. Since it is being released on HBO instead of ABC Family, it can focus on maturer themes that Pretty Little Liars, with a predominantly young teen audience base, could not cover. While Pretty Little Liars kicked off with the disappearance of Alison DiLaurentis, Original Sin will start with the tragic event that happened 20 years prior and is still impacting the town.
