It was back in 2020 when Fullbright announced Open Roads, a family road trip tale, that was expected to release in 2021. However, the game was delayed but Open Roads has now re-emerged with a new release date, with that date being February 22nd, 2024. A new trailer has also been released to confirm the date.
Open Roads will star Keri Russell from The Americans, Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, and Antlers, and Kaitlyn Dever from Booksmart, Unbelievable and Short Term 12. The game will be in a first person view with players controlling Tess through the playthrough as she searches out her family history, and talks to her mother as they drive from place to place.
The description for Open Roads says, “Players will experience the story as 16-year-old Tess Devine, on a road trip with her mother, Opal, to discover what has been left behind in evocative places forgotten to time. Together, they’ll explore a series of long-abandoned family properties, unearthing a mystery much darker than either of them imagined. Opal and Tess’s relationship has never been easy; in their search they’ll discover not just the truth they’ve been seeking, but each other.”
Open Roads will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam.
