Netflix has welcomed the first batch of new cast members, who will be joining the Season 2 cast for the next installment to the hit live-action adventure series.
David Dastmalchian (Suicide Squad, Late Night With the Devil), Camrus Johnson (Batwoman), Jazzara Jaslyn (Warrior), and Daniel Lasker (Raised by Wolves) have officially been tapped to play the respective roles of Mr. 3, Mr. 5, Miss Valentine, and Mr. 9, who are members of the villainous group Baroque Works. Like Iñaki Godoy’s Monkey D. Luffy, the first three characters are also known as Devil Fruit users who each posses a unique set of powers. Meanwhile, Mr. 9 will be one of the first Baroque Works members that the Straw Hats meet after entering the Grand Line.
Based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga series, One Piece is written and executive produced by Steven Maeda (The X-Files) and Matt Owens (Agents of SHIELD), with Owens and Joe Tracz serving as showrunners for Season 2. The series is also being led by Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.
The next installment is expected to adapt the Arabasta saga, which will begin with Luffy, Nami, Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp finally entering the treacherous waters of the Grand Line. Lots of new characters are expect to appear in the next installment, including fan-favorites Tony Tony Chopper, Dr. Kureha, Captain Smoker, Princess Vivi, Nico Robin, Portgas D. Ace, Crocodile, Bon Clay, and more.
