Marvel Comics' big event for the summer of 2022 sees the Avengers caught up in the middle of a battle between the Eternals and the X-Men. While the Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the Children of the Atom have faced each other in battle multiple times (most famously in the A vs. X crossover), an all-out battle between the Avengers and the Eternals promises to be an epic showdown between some of the strongest super-powered beings on Earth. However, in the buildup to that clash, it seems that the Eternals are so confident in their skills and abilities that one of them alone has no issues in taking on the full Avengers team.
The Eternals are currently experiencing one of the most tumultuous periods in their long existence. Thanos, who is an Eternal with Deviant syndrome born on the colony of Titan, has taken control of Earth's Eternals as their rightful leader. He has nefarious plans for Earth and probably for the entire universe, so a small group of Eternals is looking for a way to permanently kill Thanos — something that should technically not be possible. The answer can only be found by questioning the godlike creatures who originally created the Eternals and the Deviants, the mysterious Celestials. Luckily for the Eternals team, one Celestial is still on Earth, even if he died eons ago.
