Eternal Threads is a decision-based, time travel game that tasks the player with rewriting the final days of six people in order to prevent their deaths. Unlike other games that use time travel and time loops, Eternal Threads offers the player a ton of flexibility to jump around the time stream to make and re-make decisions crucial decisions, but the gameplay design may be too unengaging for some players to see the story through.
Eternal Threads puts players in the boots of an operative that works to fix anomalies in the time stream. This mission is to go back to May of 2015 in order to prevent the deaths of six people due to a house fire. Unable to stop the fire directly, players must manipulate the choices these people made in order to make sure they all survive in whatever ways they can.

Due to beinga narrative-centric game, Eternal Threads plays like a visual novel mixed with elements of an interactive drama. Unlike other interactive dramas like Until Dawn and The Quarry, there are no quick time events or supremely tense moments that require the player to make split second decisions in hopes that it was the right one. Instead, players take their time exploring the remains of the house for clues and using special equipment to project the events of the past and the points at which a change can be made.
One of the unique things about Eternal Threads is how it handles the concept of time and time travel. Rather than make players go through the story linearly, developer Cosmonaut Studios allows players to approach the story however they like, be it "Pulp Fiction style" by following specific characters or "Memento style" by starting at the end.
