Japan just got a string of Splatoon 3 commercials (as spotted by Nintendo Life), and as usual, they’re fantastic. And even educationally show off some gameplay!
The best part is that in true Splatoon fashion, you really don’t need to understand another language to pick up on these commercials. The fun is universal, as each character below is shown being attacked by ink in real life, and fights back with some weapon at their immediate disposal. That includes an umbrella (Brella), bow and arrow (Tri-Stringer), bucket (Slosher), and a brush (Octobrush).
They really nail the vibe of Splatoon, and have made me more excited for the next entry than a lot of the official announcements so far. There’s something special about hearing the Splatoon soundtrack, listening to that ink noise, and seeing the actual ink color that hits that nostalgia center. I mean Splatoon is “only” seven years old, but that’s nearly a decade folks! Pretty soon that’ll enter “retro” territory, depending on where you draw the line.
Either way, I’m just happy that Splatoon survived, and wasn’t a casualty of the Wii U fantastic fireball of a death.
