One Piece has broken its own Guinness World Record after having initially set the record several years ago.
The original record was set in December 2014, earning the Guinness World Record for «The most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author» with 320,866,000 copies sold. Now,One Piece has set the record once again after having sold over 500,000 copies worldwide.

The manga has officially sold over 500,000 copies as of the beginning of August. Of those 500,000 copies, 416,566,000 were sold in Japan, with the remaining copies being international sales. This news comes along with the 103rd volume being compiled on the same day as the announcement. The official One Piece Twitter account celebrated the milestone:

One Piece has been serializing for almost twenty-five years, leaving many anime fans to wonder if the series would ever end. However, Oda has announced after returning from a short hiatus that he is working on the final arc, so the end is nearing for the One Piece manga. Passing over half a million copies printed is a feat no other anime is even close to accomplishing, with Dragon Ball only surpassing 260,000 copies. Once again, One Piece has cemented its legacy in the world of anime, and hitting this record before the end of the series is a nice send-off for the beloved franchise.
