It's tough to be a PC gamer at the moment. While prices for Nvidia and AMD graphics cards are coming down all the time, getting closer to MSRP if not actually hitting it, it's been suggested that the ongoing chip shortages could continue until 2024. That means that, with the generation expected later on this year, the market could still be in the same turmoil it has been this last year or so. However, that isn't stopping the tech giants from launching into the next era, with speculations about what's to come doing the rounds.
According to a tweet from known leaker kopite7kimi, as spotted by Tom's Hardware, there's a possibility that Nvidia may be launching its flagship RTX 4090 GPU with 24 GB of GDDR6X RAM on a 21 Gbps memory clock. This is the same as the recent RTX 3090 Ti, which is currently the most powerful graphics card on the market. The tweet also says that the RTX 4070 will have 12 GB of VRAM on a 12 Gbps clock. Both of these cards will be utilizing the Ada Lovelace architecture.

On top of this, it's also possible that the 4090 will require 600W of power. There's already been rumors that the Nvidia RTX 4090 Ti could need 900W, which would make this a very scorching GPU. The regular 4090 doesn't sound like it would be too bad in comparison, but it would still make it a very hot piece of hardware. For comparison, the aforementioned 3090 Ti requires 450W of power, and the RTX 4070 may have a TDP of 300W. In any case, Nvidia's flagship card could usher in a stifling era for PC gamers, especially for enthusiasts.
