As miserable as it has been over the past year or so in terms of getting hold of an Nvidia or AMD product, especially a new release, there does seem to be some hope on the horizon. With graphics cards beginning to come down in price, particularly in parts of Europe, such as Germany, there is the possibility that this trend will continue and that gamers and PC enthusiasts will be able to purchase at MSRP once more. Luckily, it seems as though prices are continuing to drop, getting closer to retail value.
According to a recent report from Tom's Hardware, which references the German website 3DCenter that has been tracking GPU prices, the cost of an Nvidia or AMD product is coming down some more. Cross-referencing the retail value from nine different stores in Austria and Germany, the data suggests that some graphics cards are now being priced at less than 50% over the MSRP value, showing that it's been on the downswing since January of this year. This also could suggest that prices will begin to drop in other parts of the world as well.

According to the graph, team green's hardware is still slightly more expensive than team red's, but that's perhaps to be expected, especially given the Nvidia RTX 3090, which is considered one of the most powerful cards in the world. At the moment, the 3090 is 34% above the recommended selling price and will set PC users back around $1,500. On the opposite end is AMD's RX 6900 XT, which is currently at 24% above the retail value, and has an average price of $999. In general, things are starting to look up, but potential buyers may not wish celebrate too early.
