Richard Rider's Nova is one of Marvel's most prominent cosmic heroes, and he'll soon be joining the MCU in a project helmed by Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada. However, despite having the outlandish aesthetic fans might expect from a planet-hopping superhero, one awesome cosplay proves Nova's comic-accurate costume can work in live-action.
Richard Rider’s status and proficiency as a celebrated member of the Nova Corps resulted from a happy accident as his incredible powers were bestowed upon him at random by a mortally wounded alien named Rhomann Dey. Rider was given the power of rocket-like flight, superhuman strength, energy projection and endurance. Though no forethought was put into his selection, he ended up fully embracing his role as a hero and valued member of Marvel's Green Lantern Corps equivalent, accepting Dey’s mission of bringing a mass murderer named Zorr to justice. Rider also learned that it was not just any member of the Nova Corps who transferred his powers — it was the Nova Prime, granting him unparalleled abilities he's fought to use wisely.

With this cosplay, shared by the aptly-named @nova_corps_cosplay on Instagram, Richard Rider looks bold and powerful without playing down any of his iconic elements. The sharp angles of his signature yellow helmet appear rigid and exact, with a perfectly symmetrical red starburst lending a sense of unyielding authority to his exposed mouth and covered gaze. Likewise, Nova's various glowing power points remain intact, and the points on his golden gauntlets communicate the speed inherent to his 'human rocket' powers.
