A new TikTok showcases a Lightyear fan's process behind building an impressive cosplay that imagines the Toy Story character in live-action. Created by Pixar's Angus MacLane, Lightyear is the blockbuster spinoff from the studio's much-loved Toy Story franchise and serves as an in-universe origin story for Tim Allen's beloved hero Buzz Lightyear. The film sees Marvel star Chris Evans take over the mantle from Allen, providing the voice for the fictional astronaut who inspired the creation of the Buzz Lightyear toy. Evans is joined by a star-studded cast that includes the likes of Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi, Uzo Aduba, and James Brolin.
Lightyear exists within the Toy Story universe after Pixar confirmed that it is the film Andy saw in theatres that subsequently inspired him to ask for the Buzz Lightyear toy for his birthday, therefore, technically acting as the catalyst to the events of the first Toy Story film. Lightyear sees Buzz and his crew take on their most ambitious mission yet which, amongst a variety of other things, sees them come up against Brolin's Evil Emperor Zurg. Despite its stacked cast and sweet promotional campaign, which included some adorable art of Andy and his toys going to seeLightyear for the very first time, the film, unfortunately, suffered a somewhat anti-climatic box office opening, despite receiving largely positive reviews across the board.
