Nothing Phone (1) will make an impact on Indians as soon as it is announced in India. Ahead of its launch on July 12, 2022, Nothing India VP and GM Manu Kumar said in an interview that Nothing will be manufacturing its first smartphone in India. The smartphone will be manufactured in Tamil Nadu, although Nothing did not reveal who will be its contract manufacturer. The company had previously announced that the Phone (1) will be sold via Flipkart in India exclusively. Nothing is yet to reveal the design of the phone.
In an interview with The Economic Times, the Nothing VP said that, “Nothing phone (1) is the real start of our journey and we cannot think of a better way to establish ourselves in India, which is a key market for us.” Nothing aims to create an ecosystem of devices just like Apple, but open to all other manufacturers for improved compatibility. Currently, the company sells its ear (1) earbuds and Nothing Launcher, of which the former is compatible with all Android and iOS devices.
