Jon Watts opens up about his biggest fears in directing Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield together in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Returning for the third time to the MCU to round up its Spider-Man trilogy, the filmmaker entered the franchise in 2017 via Spider-Man: Homecoming. He followed it up with the game-changing movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home, which leads to his latest blockbuster that brings together all three eras of live-action Spider-Man movies.
Admittedly,Spider-Man: Far From Home set up a very different threequel, and screenwriters Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna belatedly shared that the original Spider-Man: No Way Home narrative didn't involve the multiverse. But, eventually, they decided to change course and make it the blockbuster's focal point. This allowed characters from Sam Raimi and Marc Webb's Spider-Man movies to appear, such as villains like Alfred Molina's Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, and Jamie Foxx's Electro. The involvement of Garfield and Maguire's respective Spider-Man versions, however, wasn't revealed until the film hit theaters.

Long before their appearance was confirmed, rumors were persistent that Maguire and Garfield would indeed be in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now, Watts opens up about the process of bringing all three live-action Spider-Man iterations together on the big screen in a new interview with Variety.
