The first Nintendo Direct of 2022 will be 40 minutes long and concentrate on games out in the first half of the year, but which games exactly?
The first chance this year for Nintendo fans to have their hopes dashed will be on Wednesday night at 10pm GMT, when the next Nintendo Direct livestream is due to take place.
The Direct will be 40 minutes long, so it’s a long one, with the only hint of what will be talked about being that it will ‘mainly’ focus on Nintendo Switch games released in the first half of the year.
Currently, the only major exclusives with a confirmed release date this year are Square Enix’s Triangle Strategy on March 8 and Chocobo GP on March 10, with the only Nintendo-made title being Kirby And The Forgotten Land on March 25.
The Nintendo Direct will no doubt cover all three of those games, and probably the previously delayed Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, but what else might be featured is pure guesswork.
Splatoon 3, the sequel to Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, and Bayonetta 3 are all supposed to be out this year, but whether there’ll be released in the first half of the year is unknown. Metroid Prime 4 and Hollow Knight: Silksong are also in development, but they haven’t even committed to a year yet.
Of those first three games, Splatoon 3 is probably the most likely to be out first but Nintendo will probably talk about third party games as well, if they haven’t got enough first party titles that are imminent.
It’s also more than likely that Nintendo will announce brand new games, as it often has a sports title out in time for the summer and there have been rumours of a new Fire Emblem, even if it’s just a remake.
